The talk was presented by Roger Mears at 155 Bishops’s gate London, to a packed room of RICS chartered surveyors.
The talk focused on conservation and repairs of historic buildings, with a particluar empasis on the use of lime, the different strengths of cement, NHL, hot lime and fat lime. Roger also discussed damp issues and the impact of inappropriate damp treatments. He talked through some example projects illustrating tricky repair and maintainence issues, and the specific knowledge that a conservation architect can bring to a conservation project. He also explained the power of informed investigation, and the process of discovery and revealing the hidden original details.
