Watermill, Carmarthenshire: repair
The building was in very poor repair; although the stonework was substantially sound, there were trees growing out of it, there were holes in the roof and the upper floors and staircase were unsafe to walk on. There were no windows in the openings, only the remains of one or two shutters. The machinery was in similar condition: substantially sound, but the bases of the structural timbers and the beams built into the hillside wall were seriously rotted.
The loose machinery was taken out and saved for possible future use and the remainder was stabilised. Structural cracks in the stonework were repaired and three new window openings were introduced; new floor joists and boarding were introduced and windows, with shutters.
