Watermill, Carmarthenshire: Detail

The new staircase was installed with straight flights for carrying sacks of corn and was designed to be robust in order to fit with the substantial framing (hearsting) for the machinery.

Situated at the bottom of a valley, the living room could be dark at times so two new windows were recently inserted in the west-facing gable wall. There were signs, both internally and externally, of reveals to previous openings on either side; these reveals were re-used and tall windows were added, which give views to the miller's house, the oat-drying kiln and the river.
