House, Vale of Pewsey: phase I

Library - after
Our brief, in 1986, was to design an extension, in order to provide a library with as much book storage as possible and an additional bedroom and bathroom. Not wanting to disturb the scale of the existing building we designed the extension as a separate pavilion, at right angles to the cottage and linked to it by extending the lean-to at the rear. A bay window on both floors gives views over the valley to the hills the other side.
Internally, finishes were kept simple and robust and externally it was rendered and painted to match the cottage.
