The 16,443 m2 UK flagship HQ & Distribution Centre, designed by ACP for the American multi-national Levi Strauss, combines a 3,443 m2 HQ office building with a 13, 000 m2 distribution centre. Sited on 4.9 ha at Northampton’s Swan Valley Business Park, the scheme enjoys considerable visual prominence from the adjacent M1 motorway which is acknowledged through the distinctive form of the building.
The two-storey office element – offset from the northwest face of the distribution building – is articulated by a brick plinth, metal roof and glass curtain walling. A full length roof light shapes the internal spaces to provide a modern hi-tech open-plan layout, with cafe, fitness suite, and conference and meeting rooms. Designed to contain high volume handling equipment, the 154m long distribution centre incorporates a 20m high bay zone and a 10m low bay production area.
